Kathak
Native to North India and pronounced “Kah-tahk”- is one of the eight esteemed classical dance forms of India. Originating in Hindu temples around the 4th century BCE as a profound storytelling tradition, Kathak gracefully conveys narratives through expressive hand gestures (mudras), emotive facial expressions, intricate rhythmic footwork and fluid, graceful movements. The dance form beautifully blends poetic storytelling with precise rhythmic patterns embodying emotional depth and technical intricacy. Preserved across generations yet continuously evolving, Kathak remains a vibrant expression of India's rich cultural heritage.
